Former President Donald Trump came close to announcing a 2024 White House bid at a Thursday night rally in Sioux City, Iowa.
The former US president told a crowd in Iowa that he would "very, very, very probably do it again" in 2024. Later, US media said a formal announcement may be made on 14 November.
'And now in order to make our country successful and safe and glorious - I will very, very, very probably do it again,' he said.
Iowa is the state that holds the first presidential contest, the Iowa caucuses, and Trump visited the state on the anniversary of his 2020 election loss. Trump was stumping for Iowa Republicans, Sen. Chuck Grassley and Gov. Kim Reynolds, who aren't facing tough Democratic challenges.
The ex-president entertained the audience by sharing a gaffe-reel featuring current US President Joe Biden.
Mr. Trump was speaking at the first of four rallies in five days as he campaigns for Republican candidates in next week's midterm elections.
President Joe Biden is also travelling across the country to get out the vote.
