Ministers banned from criticizing the government in Belgium: 'Shut up or resign'

In Belgium, with the "political morality circular" prepared by Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and approved by the council of ministers, cabinet members were prohibited from publicly criticizing the decisions taken by the federal government.

According to the circular, the ministers have two options: They will either not criticize the government's decisions or submit their resignations.

According to Belgian media, the circular came on the agenda after Deputy Prime Minister Petra De Sutter, a member of the Green Left Party, sharply criticized the European Agreement on Migration and Prime Minister De Croo's approach to the European Nature Restoration Law.

The government aims to prevent the "cracked voices" within the government, less than a year before the general elections.
