Russia: Thousands of people arrested in demonstrations against military mobilization
In Russia, demonstrations took place this Wednesday, September 21 across the country, after Vladimir Putin announced the mobilization of 300,000 reservists to support his war effort in Ukraine. While at least 1,300 people have been arrested in at least 38 different cities, others are scrambling for plane tickets to leave Russia in the coming days.

At least 1,300 people have been arrested in at least 38 different cities, according to the independent observer group OVD-Info. They were demonstrating following the announcement, this Wednesday morning by Vladimir Putin, of the mobilization of 300,000 reservists for the offensive in Ukraine.
Russians oppose forced conscription and mobilisation and many Russians are flying to other countries, mainly to Turkey to escape Putin's war.
